- Are MaxTech's the same as the Yokohoma and AmJet?
-
- I have bought the Yokohoma and AmJet. These two modems are IDENTICAL.
- They have the exact same chips in the same places. Jumpers are the same;
- everything is the same. They include the same software and the manuals
- are identical. The ONLY difference between the Yokohoma and AmJet is the
- picture on the outside of the box. It's like AmJet and Yokohoma are just
- packaging companies.
-
- In any case, it's a shitty modem. Both Yokohoma and AmJet gave me the
- same problems. They have the same bug as reported being in the latest
- firmware. I had to return both.
-
- A salesman recently advised me to get a Zoltrix 28.8, saying that 28.8's
- are faster than 33.6's. He was selling the Zoltrix 28.8 and an AmJet 33.6
- for the same price, $108.
-
- I'm pretty confused at this point. Aren't there any trully functional
- 33.6's, besides USR Couriers? If I can't rely on a Yokohoma, AmJet, or
- Sportster, and I can't afford a Courier, what's left?
